Pinx Catering ("Pinx", "we", "us") provides catering and event services in the San Francisco Bay Area. This policy explains what personal information we collect through pinxcatering.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

If you have a question about anything here, contact us at [hey@pinxcatering.com](mailto:hey@pinxcatering.com) or 855-984-7469.

The short version

We collect the information you type into a form on this site so that we can respond to you and plan your event. We do not sell it.

We use Google and Meta advertising tools on this site, so that we can tell which of our adverts bring people to us and avoid paying to advertise to people who are already our customers. You can switch that off, and we explain how below.

What you tell us about allergies and dietary requirements is used only to feed your guests safely and well. It is never sent to an advertising platform.

Information we collect

Information you give us. Depending on which form you use, that can include:

  • Your name, email address and phone number.
  • Details about your event: event type, guest count, date or date flexibility, venue, the services you are interested in, and any dietary requirements or allergies you tell us about.
  • Your preferred method of contact.
  • For a job application: the role you are applying for and any message you include.

Dietary and allergy information. If you tell us about an allergy, an intolerance, or a dietary requirement, that information may reveal something about your health or your religious practice. We ask for it only so that we can feed your guests safely, we use it for no other purpose, we never send it to an advertising platform, and we do not use it to infer characteristics about you.

Resumes. The application form on our Careers page does not accept file uploads. If you send a resume, you send it to us by email, and it reaches our mailbox rather than this website.

Information collected automatically. When you submit a form we record the page you submitted it from, your browser's user-agent string, and how long you spent on the form. We also store a salted, irreversible hash of your IP address, never the address itself, to limit automated submissions.

Analytics and advertising

This site loads Google Analytics, Google Ads conversion measurement and the Meta Pixel through Google Tag Manager. These tools record which pages you visit, how you arrived at the site, and whether you submitted a form.

They do not receive your venue address, and they do not receive anything you tell us about allergies or dietary requirements.

If you arrive from a Google or Meta advert, we store the advertising click identifier that came with you alongside your enquiry, so that we can tell which advert led to which booking.

When an enquiry becomes a confirmed event, we report that back to Google so that we can tell which adverts produce real business. Where your email address or phone number is included in that report, it is converted into an irreversible code before it leaves us. We never send the address or the number itself.

Cookies and local storage

Cookies. The tools above set cookies on our own domain. The main ones are `_ga` and `_ga_<id>` for Google Analytics, which distinguish visitors and hold your session; `_gcl_aw` and `_gcl_gs` for Google Ads, which record advert click information so that a booking can be matched to the advert that produced it; and `_fbp` and `_fbc` for Meta, which identify your browser and store the click identifier from a Meta advert. The Google Analytics cookies last two years. The Google Ads and Meta cookies last ninety days.

These are set when you visit the site. You can remove or block them in your browser at any time, and the section below explains how to opt out of the advertising uses directly with Google and Meta.

Local storage. To avoid showing you the same popup twice, we store a small marker in your browser's own local and session storage (`pinx_popup_shown`, `pinx_popup_dismissed_until`, `pinx_converted`). Google's advertising tag also stores click information under the key `_gcl_ls`. These stay on your device and are cleared when you clear your browser data.

We also set a login session cookie for our own staff portal, which is never issued to a visitor.

Tracking across other websites

Google and Meta may combine information about your activity on this site with information about your activity on other websites and apps, in order to show advertising. You can limit this directly with each of them:

  • Google, in your Google Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com.
  • Meta, in your ad preferences on Facebook or Instagram.

You can also ask us to exclude you. Email [hey@pinxcatering.com](mailto:hey@pinxcatering.com) with the subject line "Privacy Request" and we will remove you from our advertising audiences.

Do Not Track

Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no common industry standard for how websites should answer it, and this site does not respond to it. We do honour Global Privacy Control signals, which are a newer and more widely supported mechanism, and the options in the section above are available to everyone.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • Respond to your enquiry, prepare a proposal, and plan and deliver your event.
  • Send you the menus or materials you asked for.
  • Send you our newsletter, if you asked for it. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time.
  • Consider your job application.
  • Measure which of our adverts work, and avoid showing adverts to people who have already booked with us.
  • Keep the site working and defend it against spam and abuse.
  • Keep the records we are required to keep, and resolve disputes.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers who make the site and our operations work, and only so that they can perform that work for us:

  • Our website host and our database host, which store form submissions.
  • Our email provider, which delivers the notification of your enquiry to our team.
  • Google and Meta, which provide the advertising and measurement tools described above. They receive information about your visit and, when we report a confirmed booking, an irreversible code derived from your email address or phone number. They do not receive your venue address or your dietary information.
  • Professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires it.

We also disclose information if we are legally compelled to, or to protect the rights or safety of Pinx, our clients or the public.

We do not sell your personal information, and we never have.

How long we keep it

We keep event enquiries for as long as we may reasonably do business with you, and then for as long as we need them for tax, accounting and dispute-resolution purposes. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Job applications are kept for up to two years unless you ask us to delete yours sooner. You can ask us to delete your information earlier.

Security

Form submissions are transmitted over HTTPS, and access to submissions is restricted to authorised Pinx staff through a password-protected portal. No system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we do not store payment card details on this website at all.

Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you, where it came from, why we have it, and who we have disclosed it to.
  • Give you a copy of it.
  • Correct anything inaccurate.
  • Delete it, subject to the records we are required to keep.
  • Stop using it for advertising. See the options above, or email us.

We will not refuse you service, charge you a different price, or give you a lower quality of service because you made a request.

Your Privacy Rights. California residents may also ask us once a year for a list of the personal information we disclosed to third parties for those third parties' own direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information for that purpose, so the answer is none, and we will confirm that in writing if you ask.

How to make a request. Email [hey@pinxcatering.com](mailto:hey@pinxcatering.com) with the subject line "Privacy Request", or call 855-984-7469. We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days, and we will tell you if we need longer. We will ask you for enough information to verify that the request is really yours, usually confirmation from the email address or phone number we already hold, and we will not use what you send us for verification for anything else.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Our pages sometimes link to venues, clients, or our own social profiles. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site under their privacy policy, not ours.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and if the change is significant we will say so on the page. Please check back before sending us information if it has been a while.
